How does one go about getting involved with tournament fishing, whether local or big time?  Me, for example, do not own a boat or have friends that do, or my friends that do have boats are not as committed to fishing as I am and would not let me basically horse their baby 4 days a week.  I've been extremely interested in getting involved in clubs and tournys, but I have no idea how to go about getting involved.  I've researched the websites of some of the clubs and such, but it seems kinda overwhelming going into this solo when it seems everyone else already knows each other.  Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Go to the FLW website and sign up as a co-angler on the BFL for 100 bucks and you will fish in the back of a local experts boat and he'll show you his best spots and best techniques and youll have a shot at winning a couple grand. You cant beat it. Also look on computer for Delaware stump jumpers tournament schedule. They are good getting started tournament in DE ponds.

If you are looking for tournament fishing at a beginers level check out The Bass Federation and The Bass Federation Nation in your state. Always looking for non boaters. It is a great learning experience for fishing and meeting new fishermen. About the BFL's just go to FLW Outdoors and go to the forums in the community. Look under BFL's and look for anglers looking for links in the lakes you want to fish. Linking is where you are paired up with a boater and guarantees that you will be able to fish the tournaments. Not always needed but a good idea. Your link might let you prefish with them before the tournaments. If you can not find a link give flw a call and let them know you are looking to fish the bfl's. You have to make the first move into the tournament fishing cause nobody will be knocking on your door until you get out their and be seen. Sign up as soon as you can. Good Luck this year.

Thats about the best you can do. Most of those are one day, I dont think you have to fish them all.

The BFL as a coangler is the way to go until you get and/or win a boat. There and at other tournaments like Anglers Choice, FOM, and BFL/Stren, etc you can fish with major guys and for a minimal price, learn tips and tactics that will last a lifetime, and maybe in the meantime win money, develop sponsors and a real resume', and you can WIN A BOAT! If you win any tournaments at a decent level like a BFL, Anglers Choice, etc and you say the sites name and mention the website etc, and then do a short video either by yourself or with me, or with someone at the tournament and tallk about the site here on video or on stage,  I will give you money and products as well.

B.A.S.S. Weekend series is great too. It's guaranteed $2500 bucks to a co-angler and  being that most guys came from MD or VA I think it will be larger than BFL aka the Old Redman tournies. It is ran very well though. I fish the Weekend Series. I fish as a boater . $100 for co-angler at $200 for boater.
