Ive heard great things about it and its one of the few places in Virginia I haven't fished. Just wondered if it was as good as the hype. I hear it has a ton of fish and some of the biggest in the state. Any info would be appreciated.

I fish the river and lake all the time. Being limited to paddle power I can only go so far. Most of what I catch are small 1-3lbs.There are suppose to be great spots by the dam and the opposite direction from what I`ve heard, but there out of my reach. The water has been real low, but we just got some rain so if I go this week I`ll let you know.

I saw an article in bassmasters on this lake and have wondered about it. Can you put a bass boat on it? I know its a large reservoir but it seems to have motor restrictions and haven't found a clear answer. Thanks for any info, Jason

Yes, they have a 9.9 hp restriction on that lake. Not sure why, when the people that live on the lake have boats with big hp engines on them.Go figure.

9.9 hp on a lake that is over 1,000 acres? Thats rediculous! Thanks for the reply Old-fart.

In some ways it makes a lot of sence. The water runs into Occoquan river which we get drinking water from. There is a lot of people that Kayak and conoe these lakes and rivers.Me being one .Burke lake which is small is electric only.
The Occoquan river is a no wake zone out to the Potomac.I`ve been on the Potomac with boats going passed fast and it`s no picnic for a small boat.
Im waiting for the leadfree to hit next.

Id like to see the evidence that driving your boat contaminates the drinking water

You know whats really funny is how much more pollution comes from those small engines compared to newer high power ones. Sounds like more residents that live on the lake thinking it is THEIR lake.
